Locomotive Stay on Track for First Mini-Tournament Title

The first of our weekly Sunday tournaments at the FTA Functional Training Academy got off to a flyer this week with close games, great goals and worthy champions in Locomotive. The first two games for each of the teams proved to be a close as they could be, with no team winning or losing by more than a goal in any of them. Locomotive went into their final group game against Capital City knowing they had a small margin of error as even a draw would put them into the final. They obliged with an emphatic victory to steam into the final like a runaway train,
Over on the other field, Curried Nachos with Sour Cream and the Indies went head to head with the victors guaranteed to make the final. Although it was another close game with plenty of chances at either end, it was the Indies who ran out 4-2 victors to set up a rematch of the first game of the tournament. The first meeting had been a fantastic 4-4 tie, but the indies couldn’t find the same firepower in the final and Locomotive ran out 3-1 winners to take the first weekly tournament.
We’ll be running another 5v5 coed tournament next Sunday, with all teams guaranteed at least three games and the whole tournament complete between 5pm and 7pm on Sunday March 4th. Full details and registration can be found over at the Footy Sevens Website.
