The first of our spring leagues kick off this weekend and it’s shaping up to be our biggest ever season at Ottawa Footy Sevens. Almost 300 teams have already registered to play this spring. We’re looking forward to some amazing leagues this year, with more than 20 or 30 teams registered in most leagues which will allow us to break the leagues down into a number of divisions and get as many teams as possible matching up with teams of a similar skill level each week. Many of our leagues are already sold out, but we still have some team and individual spaces available in a few of them. Here’s a quick summary of what is still available for the upcoming spring seasons.
Carleton University
We got over 170 teams already registered to play at Carleton U’s two fantastic fields. Our Monday, Wednesday and Sunday evening coed leagues are completely sold out. It’s “last chance saloon” in the other leagues as we have a single team space left in each of the Friday evening coed, Sunday afternoon coed and Friday evening men’s leagues. We also have a couple of team spots left in our Sunday afternoon men’s league. If you are looking for individual spaces we have a female space and a male space left on Friday only: all others are sold out.
Ben Franklin Dome
Our Thursday coed league is sold out for teams and for male individuals, but we still have a couple of female individual spaces available. On Tuesdays we still have some team and individual spaces available in our men’s league.
Louis Riel Dome & Hornet’s Nest
All of our east-end leagues are coed leagues and don’t start until a couple of weeks from now. We have one final team space available on Mondays and a handful on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. For individuals the only league that we still have men’s spaces available in is Sunday, and we have a couple of female spaces available Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ottawa University
Our Friday night men’s 11-a-side league at Ottawa University is completely sold out and will kick off our spring season on Friday.
Kicking Cancer’s Butt Charity Tournament
It’s still a month away, but we’ve already got 20 teams registered for May 23rd’s Kicking Cancer’s Butt 6 . We can’t wait to see the team donations and those sweet, sweet bribes rolling in. All in the name of raising money for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation of course!
Pick-Up Soccer and Other Sports
If you’ve missed out on a spot at your favourite venue or evening (or just fancy an extra game one week), don’t forget that we run regular pick-up soccer evenings most weeks and will be adding additional pick-up sports on Thursday’s at Carleton U during the summer. Next up is a 90 minute pick-up game at Carleton University tomorrow (Wednesday) See the footy sevens pick-up site for the weekly schedule.
Volleyball – Indoor and Beach Volleyball
Our sister company, Ottawa Volley Sixes has spring and summer indoor leagues coming up at Ottawa Montessori School and Ottawa University. Team and individual spots are available. We are also delighted to be able to offer beach volleyball for the first time with our new Sunday Evening mixed 4s leagues taking place at the premium Mooney’s Bay location and starting on the 24th of June. Teams and individual spaces are available.
As always full details can be found at the Footy Sevens, Volley Sixes and Pickup websites.
