Another one from the Raven Field @Carleton_ U. It’s from the Sunday league this time, though. Raven Field was bathed in unseasonal sunshine today. It looked as if we could easily still be playing outdoors . . . Winter Outdoor Mondays for next year? Maybe not 🙂
I feel bad posting this photo (nah, on 2nd thoughts, no I don’t, it made me smile). This was the reaction as a free kick was driven into the box from close range. We all know that we all cut these kind of poses momentarily, they just aren’t usually committed to film.
Footy isn’t the beautiful game for nothing, it can be fluid, artistic and inspiring. . . .and sometimes it isn’t. Kind of reminds me of the only time that my better half captured my soccer on video. For a few brief moments I looked the part, sauntering down the wing, cutting inside into space, holding the ball long enough to let play develop for the defence splitting pass . . . and then getting knocked flat on my arse by a forearm smash from the advancing centre half. After picking myself up and waggling my jaw about to see if it was still there, when the ball came back to me, I completely failed with an “I’ll show you” moment by shanking a first time 20 yard shot high, wide and handsome. Classy!
Remember if it’s you that we’ve tacked the Santa hat* onto, drop us a tweet @OttawaFooty7s and we’ll send you an Ottawa Footy Sevens shirt.

*Or we may shove on a big snowman’s top hat. Who knows? It depends upon how whimsical we’re feeling at the time . . .
