Christmas is a time for giving, and every year the Footy Sevens teams and players show that they have an incredible spirit of generosity. In the past 3 1/2 years we have organised 5 charity tournaments which have now donated over $40,000 to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and Heart and Stroke Foundation. All of the money has come from individual teams and players registering for tournaments and donating. Some of Footy Sevens staff were on the CTV morning show to do the cheque presentation a few weeks ago, but they were there to represent all of you who have made such wonderful contributions. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
With yet another frost-bite warning for Ottawa today, the spring sunshine of this photo of the barbecue from this year’s Kicking Cancer’s Butt tournament seems a million miles away. The barbecue was new for this year and many thanks to Dave Walls for all of the work he put into organising and running it before and during the event, along with the many volunteers who helped out.

Face in the Crowd Competition – Win a Footy Sevens Shirt
We’ll tweet out one photo a day and be adding a bit of seasonal cheer by throwing a badly photoshopped Santa hat onto the head of someone in each picture.
If you are the person sporting the santa hat in the photo, tweet us back @ottawafooty7s with your name and the team name and we’ll send you one of our snazzy Ottawa Footy Sevens or Ottawa Volley Sixes Adidas or Umbro shirts.
All of our online photo galleries can be found here.
