Whether you choose to get your weather information from rodents or from Environment Canada, we can all agree that this is some pretty unpleasant weather. For some reason our spring league launch always seems to coincide with some of the worst weather of the winter, and this year is no exception. It’s not deliberate (honestly!). Anyway, as you trudge through the slush and possibly tumble head over heels like an overpaid prima-donna sensing a hint of contact in the penalty box, here’s the details of this year’s spring footy to cheer you up . . .
- Pre-sale for current team captains: Now Open!
- Team registration opens to the general public: Monday March 7th
- Registration for individual players goes on sale: Monday March 14th
For full details, pricing, information and registration go to the Ottawa Footy Sevens Website or drop us an e-mail.
Spring League Line-Up
As always we’ve got a terrific line-up of 7-a-side leagues available and this year we will be concentrated on three main venues:
- Central (Outdoor): Carleton University’s two outdoor turf fields and Sts Peter & Paul Church
- East (Indoor): Louis Riel and Hornet’s Nest Domes
- South-West (Indoor): Ben Franklin Dome
We will also have our annual summer men’s downtown 11-a-side league taking place on Friday evenings at Ottawa University’s Matt Anthony field.
Carleton University – Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri
Last year we added Monday and Wednesday leagues to our long running Sunday and Friday leagues at Carleton U. As always the 90 minute coed league on Sunday evenings was the first of our spring leagues to sell out and we we also have 60 minute men’s and coed leagues on Sundays. During the week we have a Friday men’s league as well as Monday, Wednesday and Friday coed.
Louis Riel and Hornets’ Nest Domes – Mon, Wed, Sun
Our Monday and Wednesday 90 minute indoor coed leagues in the east of the city are our longest running leagues and provide cracking value for those teams who don’t want to gamble with the weather over the summer. The 90 minute indoor format is also available at the weekend on Sunday evenings.
Ben Franklin Dome – Tue, Thur
The Ben Franklin Dome is a great venue for those of you based in the west and south of the city and we’ll have a 60 minute men’s league on Tuesday evenings and 60 minute coed on Thursdays. We’ve extended the spring seasons at Ben Franklin Dome to 14 games running all the way from May through to mid-August
Sts Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church
We’ve just added a great new women’s league option, located just across the river from Ottawa Us Lees campus. The newly relaid 7-a-side grass field is in a central location and will host our Tuesday evening women’s 7-a-side league. An 8 week season will take advantage of the summer light and ensure that the grass field doesn’t get worn down due to overuse. The league is available for teams and individuals at a uniquely low price of $550 per team or $60 for individuals. The league begins in late May.
Ottawa University – Fri
Our Men’s 11 a-side league has been a popular league for the past few summers, providing a premium 11-a-side experience with the same venue each week on a top class turf field. As always we are limited to around 10 teams and all spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis.
All of our leagues at all venues begin in May 2015 and you can secure your team space with a $250 deposit.
For registration go to the Ottawa Footy Sevens Website or drop us an e-mail.
