Ottawa Footy Sevens Winter League Line-Up

Action from The Hornet’s nest

Tomorrow sees the last of our summer leagues coming to an end as the Sunday league at Carleton reaches its climax. It looks like good timing to be playing our last outdoor games of the season as the temperature looks set to plummet over the weekend and remain just above freezing for the rest of the week. Many of our Fall indoor leagues are already underway, and the last few will be kicking off in the first week of November.
Most of our fall leagues sold out weeks ago, but we still have a single team spot remaining in our Sunday futsal league at The Foundry in Gatineau and one team spot in our Tuesday Men’s league at the Hornet’s Nest.
Although our Winter leagues don’t kick off until the beginning of February, we expect most of them to sell out weeks before kick-off, so here is the run-down of what we have on offer in the new year. To help ensure that our current teams do not miss out, we’ll hold a spot in each league for teams playing in the corresponding fall league until Friday November 2nd. After November 2nd we’ll open them up for public registration on a first come, first served basis.
As always, Mondays and Wednesdays at the two domes in Gloucester will be the cornerstone of our league program. By utilising both the Louis Riel Dome and the hornet’s Nest, we’ve been able to secure a nice mix of game times and even a small increase in capacity, and we should see almost 40 teams playing in each of these leagues during the winter season. The format, number of games and cost will be the same as our current fall leagues at the same venues. he leagues kick off on February 4th and January 30th, respectively.
On Sunday‘s we’ll also be continuing into a winter season at Louis Riel, although we will only have capacity for just over 20 teams in that league. Our other Sunday offering will be over in Gatineau with our popular futsal league. Both of these leagues begin the winter seasons on February 10th.
We added a couple of new leagues for fall this year and after successful starts we’ll be continuing into the winter season.
Thursday Coed at the Oz Dome gives a convenient option for our teams that hail from Kanata and the West End and begins mid-January, and at the other end of the city, the later kick-off times of our Tuesday evening men’s league at Gloucester have been very popular with those of you who work or have class until later on Tuesday evenings.
We’ll also be adding a coed option for Tuesday nights at Gloucester, with a mixture of early and late kick offs. Both of the Gloucester leagues start on the 12th of February.

For those of you that turn your hand to more than just soccer, we’ve also got our popular volleyball leagues under our sister company, Ottawa Volley Sixes. We offer mixed volleyball leagues at tow of the best double gymnasiums in the city. The Sunday evening league is played at Ashbury College and on Thursday evenings we’re at Carleton University . With almost 40 teams between the two league, they offer a fun and vibrant league for recreational and more experienced players.
