As the summer draws to a close and we’re turning our attention to fall, we just thought here’s a quick update on what’s going on in the fall and winter months at Ottawa Volley Sixes.
Firstly, congratulations to Honey Badgers, who won our summer league at Carleton, edging out Blockbusters in a deciding set. It was a terrific match and the first two sets went right to the wire, finishing 25-23, sending the match into a final set where Honey Badgers prevailed 15-8. In Division B Holding Cell B claimed victory from Holding Cell C with an even closer margin of victory, taking the deciding set 26-24.
Thursday Fall League at Carleton
We are back at Carleton again on Thursday nights for the first of our fall leagues, starting on September 13th. We’ve just been able to secure an additional hour of court time each week, and now have space for one more team sign-up and a few additional individual registrations.
Sunday Fall League at Ashbury College
We’re also excited to be able to announce a new fall league at Ashbury College starting on Sunday October 14th, which is the week after thanksgiving. We have been searching for another location in the city for a while, but hadn’t previously found an acceptable slot in a gym that could match the quality of the Carleton gyms. The main gym at Ashbury however, is a massive air-conditioned double gymnasium with full floor to ceiling dividers and we have secured a fantastic early evening slot on Sundays with 6,7,8 and 9pm games available. The structure will be similar to our existing leagues with referees, multiple divisions & competition standards balls. Registration is now open for both teams and individuals. Teams can secure their place with a $250 deposit and registration is available at www.ottawavolleysixes.com.
We are also looking to add a Friday night option, and should have details of that within the next 10 days or so,
