Our first ever mixed 4s league reached crunch-time last night as the Tuesday Mixed 4s at St. Patrick’s High School hit the semi-final stage. The new format at the new venue has been a smash-hit. We’ve had some great feedback from the players and teams on getting so many touches on the smaller courts.
In the Adawe Division, Notorious D.I.G. had been every bit as menacing as their moniker, dropping only one game all season. They faced fourth seed Over Served in a rematch of the last game of the regular season and were looking for a repeat of their victory. However, it was Over Served who came out on top, reversing the previous week’s scoreline with a 2-sets-to-1 victory to claim a place in the final. The other semi-final saw another upset. Second seeds Spiked Punch had one foot in the final after claiming the first set, but Awkward Handshakes roared back to take the game 2-1 and book their place in the final.
The Bytown Division saw One Deflection maintain their perfect record with a 3-0 victory over Chewblocka. They’ll face our Individuals A team in the final after the indies snuck past Get Ready with a 2-1 victory.

Winter Mixed 4s Registration Now Open

If you would like to join us for mixed 4s in 2019, registration is now open for our Monday and Tuesday 4s leagues. Both leagues are played at the new gym at St. Patrick’s High School in a great, high-ceiling double gymnasium with floor to ceiling divider: no balls from other courts! The courts are fully marked out and scaled for 4s and all games are refereed.
The leagues start in January and we have team and individual registration available in all of our volleyball and ball hockey leagues. If mixed 4s on Mondays and Tuesdays isn’t your thing, we also have our mixed sixes available on Wednesdays at Redeemer CHS and Thursdays at Carleton U. Both leagues always sell out well in advance, so don’t delay in putting down your $150 deposit to reserve your team’s space. And if it is dekes and sticks rather than digs and spikes that are your thing, we have Wednesday evening ball hockey available too.
